 King Prawns
The predominant species of prawn processed and sold by Australian Bight Seafood is the Western King Prawn (Melicertus latisulcatus), branded as “Lincoln Wild Kings”. This prawn is caught in the local waters of the Spencer Gulf of South Australia, an area that is considered to produce the premium King Prawn in the world.

There are several product forms available for the King Prawn:

 

Whole Green

Whole green King prawns are available frozen in 1kg, 1.5kg, 5kg and 10kg cartons. We also process a retail value added pack of 454g.

Size gradings of whole green King prawns are traditionally supplied in the internationally pieces per pound system.

Size gradings for 1kg packs are:
U/10 X-Large
16/20 Medium
10/15 Large
21/25 Small
Size gradings for 1.5kg packs are:
U/6
13/15
6/8
16/20
9/12
21/25

Headless Green

Headless green King prawns are available frozen in 2.0kg cartons. Size gradings for the headless green prawns are:

Whole Cooked

Whole cooked King prawns are available in 1kg, 5kg and 10kg cartons. Size gradings of whole cooked King prawns are traditionally supplied in the internationally pieces per pound system.

16/20 Medium
Damaged
Size gradings for 5kg and 10kg cartons are:

10/15

Cutlets

King prawn cutlets are available in a 2kg block pack where the cutlets are frozen in water. All cutlets are deveined.

Size gradings for 2kg block pack are:
13/15 X-Large
16/20 Large
21/25 Medium
26/30 Small
We also process a retail value added pack of cutlets on skewers with a net weight per pack of 454g.

Meat

King prawn meat is available in 1kg IQF pack (individually quick frozen) and 2kg block frozen form.
Size gradings for 1kg IQF & 2kg block pack are:
U/20 Jumbo
21/30 X-Large
31/40 Large
41/60 Medium
60+ Small
Mixed

We also process small vacuum sealed frozen packs of prawn meat in sizes X-Large and Medium which are ideal for meal size.

All prawn products are processed in export registered factories or on export registered fishing vessels. Compliance with Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service HACCP standards is assured.
